Programs

BGV supports the Black Girl Ventures Foundation programming. Our mission is to create access to social and financial capital for Black and Brown women founders.

BGV Pitch

The Black Girl Ventures Pitch Competition is a collaboration between community, funders and entrepreneurs to fund Black/Brown women entrepreneurs. We flip the traditional pitch competition on its head - we charge at the door (creating our own micro fund), eliminate the judges and empower the community (audience) to ask questions and vote for the winner.

We hold competitions in multiple cities around the U.S. We may be coming to a city near you!

The How-To Fest

The How-To Fest is a one day summit style event full of fun lightening talks, panels and community engagement. We kick off the day with an Adult Pep Rally and end the day with a pitch competition for women of color Makers and Creatives.  “How to…” is the number one searched phrase on the internet. YouTube has opened the door for an instructional video phenomenon where you can learn to do everything from how to tie your shoe to how to curl your hair on YouTube. There’s a little DIY inside everyone. We bring the maker out of everyone by creating a crowdsourced learning experience where experts across various fields come together to share their knowledge of the topics they love.

Do you know How To do something you'd like to share? Submit your idea and you could be a speaker at the How To Fest!
